Minutes of the Meeting of the Rush Township Board of Supervisors

A meeting was held at the Rush Township Municipal Building on March 16, 2017 at 7:00 pm. In attendance were: Chairman Shawn Gilbert, Vice Chairman Robert Leibensperger, Treasurer/Secretary Katie Orlick and Bill McMullen. Supervisor Jeaninne Motroni was absent due to work obligation.

Chairman Shawn Gilbert called the meeting to order.

Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

Police Report – Chief Lipsett’s police report for the month of February 2017 was read by Chairman Gilbert. A motion was made to approve the police report. Vice Chairman Leibensperger approved, Chairman Gilbert seconded. Katie Orlick polled the board. All members voted in favor of the motion, motion carried.

Minutes of Previous Meeting– A motion was made to approve the previous meeting minutes of February 9, 2017. Vice Chairman Leibensperger approved, Chairman Gilbert seconded. Katie Orlick polled the board. All members voted in favor of the motion, motion carried.

Treasurer’s Report – A motion was made by Chairman Gilbert to approve the treasurer’s report as of February 2017. Vice Chairman Leibensperger approved, Chairman Gilbert seconded. Katie Orlick polled the board. All members voted in favor of the motion, motion carried.

Approval of current township and sewer bills thru March 16, 2017 – A motion was made by Chairman Gilbert to approve the municipal reports thru February, 2017. Vice Chairman Leibensperger approved, Chairman Gilbert seconded. Katie Orlick polled the board. All members voted in favor of the motion, motion carried.

Approval of municipal reports (sewer, road, Arro, Prodesign) – A motion was made by Chairman Gilbert to approve the municipal reports for February 2017. Vice Chairman Leibensperger approved, Chairman Gilbert seconded. Katie Orlick polled the board. All members voted in favor of the motion, motion carried.

Attorney’s Business – None.

Correspondence – None.

Old Business – None.

NEW BUSINESS

1. A motion to adopt Ordinance 196, Regulating the Parking of Vehicles during Periods of Declared Snow Emergencies. Vice Chairman Leibensperger approved, Chairman Gilbert seconded. Katie Orlick polled the board. All members voted in favor of the motion, motion carried.

2. A motion to adopt Resolution 2017-12, which allows the Board of Supervisors to designate certain streets or portions thereof as Snow Emergency Routes in Rush Township. Vice Chairman Leibensperger approved, Chairman Gilbert seconded. Katie Orlick polled the board. All members voted in favor of the motion, motion carried.

3. A motion to approve the AutoZone Sewage Facilities Planning Module Exemption Mailer. Vice Chairman Leibensperger approved, Chairman Gilbert seconded. Katie Orlick polled the board. All members voted in favor of the motion, motion carried.

Public Comment

1. Cathy Schimpf – The Road Department did an outstanding job on plowing the roads.
2. Charlie Shamonsky – Questioned designation of streets for snow emergency, Supervisors will designate the streets and when there is a snow emergency.
3. Joe Shamonsky – Had questions about the new garbage and recycling company and will the old cans be collected. No new cans will issued, we will be keeping the old ones from Advanced Disposal.

Supervisors Comment- Rush Township would like to thank Highwood USA for donating a picnic table to Miller Park. Residents that have their garbage picked up on Friday, March 17th, will be Saturday, March 18th. Make sure you have your trash out the night before your scheduled garbage day. We will be having an Easter Egg hunt @ Miller Park on Saturday, April 8th @ 1pm. Weather Permitting!!! Have a Happy Easter!!!

Chairman Gilbert adjourned the meeting at 7:30 p.m.
