Minutes of the meeting of the Rush Township of Supervisors
A meeting was held at the Rush Township Municipal Building on April 17, 2014 at 7:00 o’clock pm. In attendance were Chairman Shawn Gilbert, Vice Chairman Robert Leibensperger, Supervisor Jeaninne Motroni, Administrative Assistant Denise Hope and 8 residents and three reporters.
Chairman Gilbert called the meeting to order.
Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
PUBLIC COMMENT
Cathy Schimpf-Questioning if fork lift was a new lift-also questioning outside people (non residents) using the recycle bins while we have to pay the extra money when they do it for free.
Pat Tracy-saying she had 50 calls about the siren at fire house-keep the siren the louder the better, also asking about trees on Holland Street what was being done.
Charlie Shamonsky-questioning the sewer that was put in by his house, he still is getting water and dirt in this yard, questioning Bonosky Street being paved.
Bill Boyer- Asking what the township is going to do about the trees in his yard?
Barry Messerschmidt- just informed the township about a controlled burn that was taking place within the township near Tuscarora State Park
Police Report– Sergeant Duane Fredrick read his report for the Month as of March 31, 2014. A motion was made by Vice Chairman Leibensperger to approve Sergeant Fredrick’s reports.
Supervisor Motroni seconded the motion. Mrs. Hope polled the board. All members voted in favor of the motion, carried.
Minutes of Previous Meeting-A motion was made by Vice-Chairman Leibensperger to approve the previous meeting minutes of March 20, 2014. Supervisor Motroni seconded the motion. Mrs. Hope polled the board. All members voted in favor of the motion, carried.
Treasurer’s Reports-A motion was made by Vice Chairman Leibensperger to approve the treasurer’s report as of March 31, 2014. Supervisor Motroni seconded the motion. Mrs. Hope polled the board, all members voted in favor of the motion, carried.
Approval of Current Township and Sewer Bills thru April 30,2014
A motion was made by Vice-Chairman Leibensperger to approve all current township and sewer bill for April 2014. Supervisor Motroni seconded the motion. Mrs. Hope polled the board. All members voted in favor of the motion, carried.
Approval of municipal reports (sewer, road, Arro, Prodesign)
A motion was made by Vice-Chairman Leibensperger to approve the municipal reports for March 2014. Supervisor Motroni seconded the motion. Mrs. Hope polled the Board. All members voted in favor of the motion, carried.
CORRESPONDENCE-The Municipal, Lehigh Valley Business, Governing, Township News, Ryan Township, PSTATS, Mr. Behun
Attorney’s Business– DCED Mailings went out hoping to hear something in a week or so
NEW BUSINESS–
A motion was made by Vice Chairman Leibensperger for Fire Police Association to help assist with Memorial Day Parade. Supervisor Motroni seconded the motion. Mrs. Hope polled the board. All members voted in favor of the motion, carried.
A motion was made by Vice Chairman Leibensperger to open all Township Parks to all sports programs. Supervisor Motroni seconded the motion. Mrs. Hope polled the board. All members voted in favor of the motion, carried.
A motion was made by Vice Chairman Leibensperger to Adopt Resolution 2014-10. Price adjustment of Bituminous Materials for Small Quantities. Supervisor Motroni seconded the motion. Mrs. Hope polled the board. All members voted in favor of the motion, carried.
A motion was made by Vice Chairman Leibensperger for the fire police to assist with the KME Race on Sunday April 27, 2014 from 11am-6pm. Supervisor Motroni seconded the motion. Mrs. Hope polled the board. All members voted in favor of the motion, carried.
SUPERVISORS COMMENT
Curb side recycling started on March 3, 2014 if you did not receive a container or if you have a questions please call the office.
Residents are encouraged to register for the CODE RED Emergency Notification System on the Rush Township website.
EPOWER came in to do an assessment for our lighting, we will be getting all new lighting in our Sewer, Garage, and outside lighting that will be cost effective through a grant system.
